Levoit Humidifier Review (2026): The Whole Lineup, Ranked

Buy the Levoit LV600S at $109.00. It is the only Levoit that does warm mist, cool mist, a real humidistat and app control in one 6 L body, and it is the model the rest of the lineup is measured against. If you want the cheapest Levoit worth owning, it is the 2.5 L top fill at $29.79. Prices verified live via the Amazon Creators API on September 5, 2026.

Buy the Levoit LV600S at $109.00. It is the flagship of the lineup for a reason: 6 L of tank, both warm and cool mist from one machine, a humidistat that holds a number instead of a fan speed, and app control that actually earns its place when the unit lives in a bedroom you do not want to walk into at 2 a.m. Everything else Levoit sells is a subtraction from that machine at a lower price, which makes the brand unusually easy to shop once you know what each subtraction costs you.

Levoit is the name that shows up when Americans search for a humidifier, and the lineup is bigger than most people realize. There are ultrasonic cool-mist units from $29.79 to $149.99, warm and cool combination units in the $89.99 to $109.99 band, smart models with app and voice control, and dumb models that just have a dial. The names are not helpful. LV600S, LV600HH, NeoClassic 450, OasisMist 1000S: none of that tells a shopper whether the thing will run all night or throw white dust across a nightstand.

So this is the whole Levoit humidifier lineup sorted by the job each model is actually best at, using only the manufacturer's published figures and the live Amazon prices verified via the Creators API on September 5, 2026. We run a research and verification desk, not a physical lab, so every capacity, runtime and decibel figure here is Levoit's own number and is labeled that way. Where Levoit publishes nothing, we write "not published" rather than guess. No brand paid for a placement, none of them saw this page first, and if you buy through our links we may earn an Amazon commission at no cost to you. One thing worth saying up front, because it applies to almost every unit here: these are ultrasonic humidifiers, so if you fill them with hard tap water they will eventually throw fine white mineral dust onto nearby surfaces. Distilled water fixes it. Humidity is a comfort measure for dry air and stuffy noses, not a treatment for anything.

The short version

  • The buy: the Levoit LV600S at $109.00. Warm mist, cool mist, humidistat and app in one 6 L unit, which is the whole lineup's feature set in a single body.
  • The budget answer: the Levoit 2.5 L top fill at $29.79, maker-stated 25 dB. It is the quietest published figure in the lineup and the cheapest Levoit we would put in a bedroom.
  • If you want warm mist without paying for the app, the LV600HH at $99.99 is the same 6 L warm and cool concept with the smart layer removed for $9.01 less.
  • For a big open room, the OasisMist 1000S at $149.99 carries a 10 L tank. For a small one, the NeoClassic 450 at $47.50 gives you 4.2 L and top filling.
  • Every cool-mist Levoit is ultrasonic, which means white mineral dust with hard tap water. Run distilled water and clean the tank on a schedule, or the machine becomes the problem it was bought to solve.

Levoit LV600S Smart Warm & Cool Mist

Levoit LV600S Smart Warm & Cool Mist

Levoit

The one Levoit that does everything: warm mist, cool mist, humidistat and app in 6 L.

4.7

Our verdict: The LV600S is the machine the rest of the Levoit lineup gets compared to, and after working through every model on this page it stays the recommendation. Warm mist for a winter bedroom, cool mist for the rest of the year, a humidistat that targets a humidity percentage instead of a fan speed, and an app so you are not crouching by a nightstand in the dark. At $109.00 it is not cheap, and it is the only Levoit that makes the cheaper models feel like compromises.

Verified: Maker-stated 6 L tank with both warm and cool mist output, a built-in humidistat and app control. Live at $109.00 on Amazon, verified via the Creators API on September 5, 2026.

One machine, both mist types, and a humidistat that actually closes the loop. The Levoit LV600S carries a maker-stated 6 L tank and can run warm mist or cool mist from the same body. That matters more than the spec sheet makes it sound. Warm mist feels better in a cold bedroom in February and takes some of the chill out of the air; cool mist is the right call the rest of the year and the only mode you should use around small children, since the American Academy of Pediatrics prefers cool-mist units in children's rooms because warm-mist and steam machines carry a scald risk.

Why the humidistat is the real feature: a humidifier without one is a fan with a water tank. It runs at the speed you set until the tank is empty, which in a small sealed bedroom means you wake up at 65 percent relative humidity with condensation on the window. The commonly cited indoor target is 30 to 50 percent (EPA), and above roughly 60 percent you are actively inviting mould and dust mites. A humidistat holds the number. Everything else on this page that lacks one is asking you to do that job manually.

The smart layer is the part people are most sceptical about and the part that earns its keep fastest. Scheduling means the unit runs from bedtime to sunrise and not through the day when nobody is in the room, which is the difference between refilling every night and refilling every second night. It is also how you turn the thing off without getting out of bed. If none of that appeals, the LV600HH further down this page is the same idea for $99.99 with the app removed.

Full write-up: our Levoit LV600S review. If you are cross-shopping against the simplest possible warm-mist machine, we put it head to head in Levoit LV600S vs Vicks Warm Mist, and it anchors the best warm and cool mist humidifiers.

Who should buy it

Buy the LV600S if you want one humidifier to cover a whole year in a bedroom or a home office and you would rather set a humidity percentage than babysit a dial. It is the right call for adults in a dry climate, for anyone who wants warm mist in winter, and for people who will genuinely use scheduling.

What we don't like

It is $109.00, the most expensive way into a 6 L Levoit, and Levoit does not publish an output or decibel figure for it, so we cannot tell you how it compares on noise to the models that do. It is also an ultrasonic unit, so hard tap water means white dust. Warm mist should stay off in a child's room.

Levoit 2.5 L Top Fill Cool Mist

Levoit 2.5 L Top Fill Cool Mist

Levoit

The cheapest Levoit worth owning, and the quietest published figure in the lineup.

4.5

Our verdict: At $29.79 this is the Levoit to buy when the budget is the actual constraint, and it is not a punishment purchase. Top filling means you pour water in from a jug instead of carrying a sloshing tank to a sink, and Levoit's published 25 dB is the quietest figure in the lineup. The tank is small enough that a dry winter night will empty it, and there is no humidistat, so you are the humidistat.

Verified: Maker-stated 2.5 L top-fill tank at 25 dB, the lowest published noise figure in the Levoit lineup. Live at $29.79 on Amazon, verified via the Creators API on September 5, 2026.

Top filling is worth more than the price difference suggests. The Levoit 2.5 L top fill takes water poured straight in from a jug or a pitcher. Every humidifier that does not work this way asks you to unclip a full tank, carry it upside down to a tap, and reverse the process in the dark, which is exactly the chore that makes people stop using a humidifier by mid-January. At $29.79 that convenience costs almost nothing.

The 25 dB figure in context: 25 dB is Levoit's published number and it is the lowest in this lineup, quieter than the 26 dB the brand publishes for its 6 L smart model. For a bedroom that is the difference between white noise you stop noticing and a hum you do notice. Treat it as a manufacturer specification measured under the maker's own conditions rather than a promise about your nightstand.

What you give up is capacity and control. There is no humidistat, so the unit runs until you turn it off or the 2.5 L tank empties, and 2.5 L does not reliably cover a full night on a high setting in a genuinely dry room. If that is your situation, spend the extra and look at the 6 L smart model instead. This one belongs in a small bedroom, a nursery for cool mist only, a dorm, or an office. It is also the Levoit we point people to in the best quiet humidifiers and the best cool-mist humidifiers.

Who should buy it

Buy this one if you want a Levoit in a small bedroom or office for the least money, and you are fine refilling daily. It is also the most sensible way to find out whether a humidifier helps you at all before spending three figures on one.

What we don't like

2.5 L will not carry a dry night at a high setting, there is no humidistat, and Levoit publishes no runtime figure. Like every ultrasonic on this page it will dust your furniture if you fill it with hard tap water.

Levoit 6 L Smart Cool Mist (60 hr)

Levoit 6 L Smart Cool Mist (60 hr)

Levoit

Sixty maker-stated hours per fill at 26 dB, for $39.02 less than the LV600S.

4.6

Our verdict: This is the value play in the Levoit lineup and the model most people who do not need warm mist should actually buy. Levoit publishes 60 hours per fill and 26 dB, which is two and a half nights of quiet running between trips to the sink, and it keeps the app. At $69.98 it undercuts the LV600S by $39.02, and cool mist only is the correct choice in a child's room anyway.

Verified: Maker-stated 6 L tank, up to 60 hours per fill and 26 dB, with app control. Live at $69.98 on Amazon, verified via the Creators API on September 5, 2026.

Runtime is the specification that changes how you live with a humidifier. The Levoit 6 L smart cool mist carries a maker-stated 60 hours per fill. Whether you see all 60 depends entirely on the setting you run and how dry the room is, since a humidifier on high in a leaky old house empties a tank far faster than the label figure. But even at half the published number you are refilling every second day rather than every morning, and that is the difference between a machine you keep using and one that ends up in a closet.

Cool mist is not a downgrade, it is the safer default. Ultrasonic cool mist nebulizes water without heating it, so there is no hot tank and no scald risk. The American Academy of Pediatrics prefers cool-mist humidifiers in children's rooms for exactly that reason. The trade is white mineral dust if you run hard tap water, which distilled water solves. Warm mist is a comfort preference for adults in cold rooms, not a performance advantage.

At 26 dB published it is a decibel above the 2.5 L top fill and still bedroom-quiet on paper. The app gives you the same scheduling that makes the LV600S worth its price. If the room in question is genuinely large, step up to the OasisMist 1000S. Otherwise this is the sweet spot, and it is the Levoit that shows up in the best humidifiers for a bedroom.

Who should buy it

Buy this if you want the smart features and a big tank without paying for warm mist you will use for three months a year. It is the right Levoit for a main bedroom, a nursery on cool mist, or anyone tired of nightly refills.

What we don't like

No warm mist, and Levoit does not publish an output figure, so the 60 hour number is a runtime claim rather than a moisture-delivery claim. The 60 hours also assumes the lowest setting; a dry room on high will not see it.

Levoit LV600HH Warm & Cool Mist

Levoit LV600HH Warm & Cool Mist

Levoit

The LV600S concept with the smart layer removed, for $9.01 less.

4.4

Our verdict: The LV600HH is what the LV600S is without the app, and the $9.01 gap between them is the most awkward pricing in the Levoit lineup. If you actively do not want a humidifier on your home network, this is the machine, and it is a good one: 6 L, both mist types, controls on the unit. If you are indifferent, the LV600S costs almost nothing more and does more.

Verified: Maker-stated 6 L tank with warm and cool mist, the non-smart sibling of the LV600S. Live at $99.99 on Amazon, verified via the Creators API on September 5, 2026.

Same tank, same two mist modes, no app. The Levoit LV600HH carries the same maker-stated 6 L capacity as the LV600S and offers the same warm and cool mist choice, controlled from the unit itself rather than a phone. For a lot of households that is a feature rather than a compromise. A humidifier that does not want a Wi-Fi password, an account or a firmware update is one fewer thing to manage, and the physical controls do not stop working when an app is retired.

The $9.01 question: at $99.99 against the LV600S at $109.00, the smart version costs about nine dollars more for scheduling, remote shutoff and humidity readouts on a phone. That is a small enough gap that the honest advice is simple. If you will use scheduling, buy the LV600S. If the words "connected humidifier" make you tired, buy this and never think about it again.

Warm mist on either unit is a comfort choice for adult bedrooms in cold weather. In a nursery, run cool mist only; the AAP prefers cool-mist humidifiers in children's rooms because warm-mist and steam machines can scald. For the wider warm-mist field see the best warm-mist humidifiers, and for the concept itself, warm mist vs cool mist is the piece to read before you spend anything.

Who should buy it

Buy the LV600HH if you want warm mist and a 6 L tank but do not want another connected device in the house. It is also the better buy of the two if you find app-dependent appliances irritating on principle.

What we don't like

It saves only $9.01 against the strictly more capable LV600S, which makes it hard to recommend on price alone. Levoit publishes no output, runtime or decibel figure for it, so there is less to go on than with the cool-mist models.

Best Levoit for a Small Bedroom
Levoit NeoClassic 450

Levoit NeoClassic 450

Levoit

A 4.2 L top-fill tank at $47.50, the middle of the Levoit cool-mist range.

4.3

Our verdict: The NeoClassic 450 splits the difference between the $29.79 entry unit and the $69.98 6 L smart model: 4.2 L, top filling, no app. It is the right answer when 2.5 L is too small for the room but you have no interest in paying for connectivity. Levoit publishes little else about it, which is the main reason it does not rank higher here.

Verified: Maker-stated 4.2 L top-fill tank, cool mist. Live at $47.50 on Amazon, verified via the Creators API on September 5, 2026.

A bigger tank and the same pouring convenience. The Levoit NeoClassic 450 carries a maker-stated 4.2 L and fills from the top, which is the combination most people actually want in a bedroom. 4.2 L is roughly 68 percent more water than the 2.5 L unit for $17.71 more, and that extra water is what turns a nightly refill into something closer to every other night depending on the setting.

What Levoit does not publish here matters. There is no published decibel figure, no published runtime, and no published output rate for this model in our verified data. That is not a knock on the machine, but it does mean we cannot tell you how it compares to the 25 dB entry unit or the 26 dB 6 L smart model on noise, and we are not going to invent a number. If a specific decibel figure is what you are shopping on, buy one of the two models that publishes one.

Cool mist means ultrasonic, which means distilled water if your tap runs hard. The general rule applies to every unit on this page and we cover it properly in distilled vs tap water. Cleaning matters just as much: any humidifier left with standing water grows things, and how to clean a vaporizer walks through the schedule.

Who should buy it

Buy the NeoClassic 450 if the $29.79 unit is too small for your room and the $69.98 smart model is more machine than you want. It is a straightforward mid-size bedroom humidifier at a sensible price.

What we don't like

Levoit publishes no runtime, noise or output figure for it in our verified data, so it is the least documented model on this page. No humidistat and no app either.

Levoit OasisMist 1000S

Levoit OasisMist 1000S

Levoit

A 10 L tank for open-plan rooms, the biggest Levoit in the lineup.

4.4

Our verdict: The OasisMist 1000S is the Levoit you buy when the room is too big for everything else. 10 L is nearly twice the LV600S tank and four times the entry model, which is the only honest way to keep an open-plan living space anywhere near 40 percent relative humidity through a dry winter. At $149.99 it is the most expensive Levoit here and the only one that suits the job.

Verified: Maker-stated 10 L tank, built for large rooms. Live at $149.99 on Amazon, verified via the Creators API on September 5, 2026.

Big rooms are a volume problem, not a feature problem. The Levoit OasisMist 1000S carries a maker-stated 10 L tank. A humidifier sized for a bedroom put in a great room does not fail because it is a bad machine; it fails because it runs dry long before it moves enough water to shift the humidity of that much air. This is the model in the lineup with the water capacity for the job.

Aim for 30 to 50 percent and measure it. The commonly cited indoor target is 30 to 50 percent relative humidity (EPA), and above roughly 60 percent you start inviting mould and dust mites onto window frames and behind furniture. In a large room, a 10 L unit running unattended can genuinely overshoot. A cheap hygrometer in the far corner of the room is the accessory that turns guesswork into a number.

Levoit does not publish a coverage area, output rate or decibel figure for this model in our verified data, so we print none. If your problem is a large room specifically, cross-check it against the best humidifiers for a large room, where the whole field is sized on the same basis.

Who should buy it

Buy the OasisMist 1000S for an open-plan living area, a large master bedroom, or any room where smaller humidifiers keep running out overnight. It is a capacity purchase, and capacity is what large rooms need.

What we don't like

$149.99 is the top of the range, no coverage area or output rate is published, and a 10 L tank full of water is heavy and awkward to move. In a small room it is simply the wrong tool.

Levoit 3 L Cool Mist with Oil Tray

Levoit 3 L Cool Mist with Oil Tray

Levoit

A 3 L cool-mist unit with a proper essential-oil tray, so oils never touch the tank.

4.2

Our verdict: This is the Levoit for people who want a light scent in the room without ruining a humidifier to get it. The dedicated oil tray keeps essential oils out of the water tank, which is the mistake that cracks plastic and voids warranties on every other unit here. At $43.99 with a 3 L tank it is a small-room machine with one genuinely useful extra.

Verified: Maker-stated 3 L tank with a dedicated essential-oil tray, cool mist. Live at $43.99 on Amazon, verified via the Creators API on September 5, 2026.

The tray is the whole point. The Levoit 3 L cool mist has a separate compartment for essential oils. Every other ultrasonic humidifier on this page will be damaged if you put oil in the water: oils attack the plastics and the ultrasonic diaphragm, and manufacturers exclude it from warranty coverage for that reason. A tray sits the oil outside the water path and lets airflow carry the scent instead.

What must never go in a humidifier tank: essential oils, and Vicks VapoSteam. VapoSteam is formulated for steam vaporizers with a medicine cup, not for ultrasonic humidifiers, and VapoPads are for units with a scent-pad slot. Putting either into an ultrasonic tank damages the machine and does nothing useful for you. We spell that out in can you put Vicks in a humidifier.

Beyond the tray it is a modest machine: 3 L, cool mist, no published runtime or decibel figure in our verified data. If aromatherapy rather than humidity is the actual goal, a dedicated diffuser is usually the better buy, and diffuser vs humidifier explains where the line sits.

Who should buy it

Buy this if you want humidity and a light scent in a bedroom or a small office and would rather not run two machines. The oil tray is the reason to pick it over the cheaper 2.5 L unit.

What we don't like

3 L is a small tank for $43.99, Levoit publishes no runtime or noise figure for it in our verified data, and the oil tray is a mild scent rather than a real diffuser. There is no humidistat.

How we chose

We rank humidifiers on the five things that decide whether one helps: how much water it actually moves, how long a tank lasts before somebody has to refill it, how loud it is next to a bed, how much upkeep it demands before it starts growing something, and what it costs to run. Levoit publishes capacity for every model, runtime and decibel figures for some, and output in millilitres per hour for very few, so this page prints what the manufacturer publishes and marks the rest as not published. We do not fill the gaps with estimates.

On sourcing: every price here is a live Amazon Creators API pull from September 5, 2026, and should be read as accurate to that date rather than to this minute. Every specification is Levoit's published figure or the consistent testimony of owners, and we say which. We do not run a physical test lab and we never present a manufacturer's number as a measurement of our own. No brand paid for a placement on this page.

It is the only Levoit that combines a maker-stated 6 L tank, both warm and cool mist, a humidistat and app control in one machine, which means it covers a full year in a bedroom rather than one season. If you have no interest in warm mist, the 6 L smart cool-mist model at $69.98 gives you the same tank size and a maker-stated 60 hours per fill for $39.02 less, and it is the better value.

What is the difference between the Levoit LV600S and the LV600HH?

The LV600S at $109.00 is the smart version and the LV600HH at $99.99 is not. Both carry a maker-stated 6 L tank and both offer warm and cool mist. The LV600S adds app control, scheduling and remote monitoring; the LV600HH is controlled from the unit. The gap is $9.01, which is small enough that the decision comes down to whether you want a connected appliance. If you will use scheduling, the LV600S pays for itself in refills you do not have to make.

Do Levoit humidifiers cause white dust?

The cool-mist models can, because they are ultrasonic. An ultrasonic humidifier throws water into the air as a cold fog, and any minerals dissolved in that water go with it and settle as a fine white powder on nearby surfaces. It is a water problem rather than a machine defect. Running distilled water eliminates it, and so does a demineralization cartridge on models that accept one. If you want to avoid the issue entirely, an evaporative humidifier such as the Honeywell HCM-350 class unit at $76.42 leaves minerals behind in the water by design.

Is a Levoit humidifier safe in a baby's room?

Use cool mist only. The American Academy of Pediatrics prefers cool-mist humidifiers in children's rooms because warm-mist and steam units heat water and can scald if a child reaches or tips them. That rules the warm-mist setting on the LV600S and LV600HH out of a nursery, though both run cool mist perfectly well. Keep the cord and the unit out of reach, keep the room in the commonly cited 30 to 50 percent band, and clean the tank on a schedule, because an unclean humidifier of any type can put bacteria and mould into the air.

How long does a Levoit humidifier run on one tank?

It depends entirely on the model and the setting, and Levoit only publishes a runtime figure for some units. The 6 L smart cool-mist model is maker-stated at up to 60 hours per fill, which is the longest published figure in the lineup. Levoit does not publish runtime figures for the LV600S, the LV600HH, the NeoClassic 450, the OasisMist 1000S or the 3 L model in our verified data, so we do not print one. In practice, any published runtime assumes the lowest output setting; a dry room on high will empty a tank far faster.

Can you put essential oils in a Levoit humidifier?

Only in the models with a dedicated oil tray, such as the 3 L cool-mist unit at $43.99. Never put essential oils in the water tank of an ultrasonic humidifier. Oils attack the plastics and the ultrasonic diaphragm, and manufacturers generally exclude that damage from warranty coverage. The same rule applies to Vicks VapoSteam, which is formulated for steam vaporizers with a medicine cup, not for cool-mist machines. If scent is the real goal, a dedicated diffuser does the job better and costs less to replace.

Levoit or Honeywell: which humidifier should I buy?

It depends on whether you want the minerals in your water going into the air or staying in the tank. Levoit's lineup is almost entirely ultrasonic, which is quieter, offers warm mist on some models, and can throw white dust with hard tap water. The Honeywell HCM-350 class unit at $76.42 is evaporative: a wick filter and a fan, self-regulating, no white dust ever, but with audible fan noise and a filter to replace. For a bedroom where silence matters most, Levoit. For a household on hard water that does not want to buy distilled, Honeywell.

Does a Levoit humidifier help with a cough or a cold?

Added humidity is a comfort measure, not a treatment. Dry indoor air makes a dry cough, a scratchy throat and a stuffy nose feel worse, and bringing a room into the commonly cited 30 to 50 percent band can make those symptoms more bearable while a cold runs its course. It does not cure or shorten anything, and no humidifier should be treated as medicine. If symptoms are severe or persistent, that is a conversation for a doctor rather than an appliance purchase.
